greenGain gives another step forward with the 5th Consortium Meeting and a regional workshop
Last week greenGain moved to Spain to celebrate the 5th Consortium Meeting. The project partners gathered at CIRCE’s headquarters, located in the city of Zaragoza (northeast of Spain), during a full day meeting that allowed the researchers to present the most urgent topics and action plan for the next months, as well as make a general review of the current state and achievements of the project.
The project meeting was organized jointly with a regional workshop that took place in the municipality of Fuentespalda (150km away from Zaragoza, in the province of Teruel). The event was celebrated in the framework of the fair “Energy in the rural environment”, which was being held at that moment, and counted with the participation of several public authorities, both at local and regional level, and stakeholders.
The workshop “From the mountain to the boiler” was focused in two main aspects of the biomass value chain. On the one hand, the Biomass sustainable management panel presented the activities of different entities in the management of natural local resources, including different types of LCMW biomass targeted by the greenGain project.
On the other hand, the panel Best practices presented the success of several companies and public entities in the harnessing of local biomass, mainly for producing domestic heat with boilers.
To conclude the workshop two technical visits were scheduled. First a live demonstration of forest works and afterwards a visit to a public school, which heating system runs by means of a biomass boiler.
