The region is situated in Central Bohemia, approx. 70 km east of Prague. Kněžice is a small village and municipality in Nymburk District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is located 22 km east of Nymburk and 67 km east of Prague capital. The municipality cooperates with greenGain project. The municipality established company Energetika Kněžice which operates bioenergy centre. Kněžice is commonly referred as “energy independent village”. Kněžice are active in local action group (LAG) Mezilesí which consists of 25 municipalities in the region. Cooperation with greenGain on LCMW biomass can be therefore to some extent also to other municipalities in the region.
